The Instrumental Music Program (IMP) is the largest co-curricular program in the school involving over 320 students from Year 7 to Year 12, across fourteen ensembles.
The IMP caters for a range of musical abilities and styles and at present includes over a third of all students from Years 7-12. IMP ensembles rehearse weekly, and contribute to over 90 performances each year. Other IMP activities include in-school instrumental tuition, a music camp, recordings, and international tours. A variety of ensembles exist within the program from Symphony Orchestras, Wind Ensembles, Jazz Ensembles and Choirs. The IMP is well established and is run by a sub-committee of the P&C. Itinerant music tutors provide expert tuition and the Bands, Orchestras and Choral ensemble are conducted by visiting music directors.
The program has brought significant accolades to the school over three decades. The IMP provides students with a well-rounded musical education through practical co-curricular musical activities, and a musical appreciation which will enrich the rest of their lives. Students are encouraged to be involved in the IMP irrespective of their musical experience.
