The winners of the annual Fort Street Science Fair visited the Quantum Computer Laboratory and the Centre for Sustainable Materials Research and Technology (SMaRT) Laboratory at the University of New South Wales as part of their amazing prize. They met Professor of Quantum Physics at UNSW and Australian of the Year 2018, Michelle Simmons.
The group then toured around the SMaRT centre and learned about e-waste and how electronics can be recycled.
As a second part of their prize the group of 12 went to the University of New South Wales Flying Operations Unit in Bankstown where they were given a presentation about aviation and the types of careers that are related to it. They were treated to a tour of the facility and were able to experience a plane simulation in action, with some students successfully flying beneath the harbour bridge!
