2006


Former Fort Street Student Named Ashfield Young Artist of the Year

MacDonald’s Performing Arts Challenge:

 

In this competition the Fort Street ensembles competed against other secondary schools, government and non-government, as well as non-school based youth orchestras and community bands.

Robert and Elizabeth Albert Youth Orchestra Award (24/u):
Winner – Symphony Orchestra

Community and Secondary School Premium Concert Band:
 Winner – Wind Ensemble

Community and Secondary Schools Premium Stage Band:
3rd Place – Stage Band

John Lamble Australasian Championship for Secondary School Choirs:
Finalist – Vocal Ensemble

Australian Percussion Eisteddfod:

This event is the premier eisteddfod for percussion soloists and ensembles. Groups travel from across Australia to participate in this event each year.

Senior Percussion Ensemble Event:
 2nd Place – Percussion Ensemble

NSW School Band Festival:

An eisteddfod dedicated to the school band movement held at the University of NSW.

Percy Grainger Event (Secondary School Concert Bands Premier Event):
Awards for ‘Best Prepared Band’ and for ‘Best Australian Work’ and a Silver Medal  - Wind Ensemble

David Stanhope Event (Secondary School Concert Bands Grade 4):
Bronze Medal - Wind Orchestra

The Symphony Orchestra won the School Orchestra Section of the McDonalds Performing Arts Challenge
The Philharmonic Orchestra wins a Silver Award at the Yamaha Orchestra Festival
The String Ensemble were placed second in the McDonalds Performing Arts Challenge
Strings perform at opening of the State Literacy Conference to the Minister for Educations Christmas function

Twenty Fortians are involved in Performing Arts Unit Ensembles
I.M.P Tour to Orange and Bathurst
Stage Band perform at Sydney South East Music Festival at the Opera House
Show Band perform at community events such as the Teddy Bears Picnic and Summer Hill Public School Fete
Percussion Ensemble win their section at the Sydney Percussion festival
 

2002

Newly established Junior Symphony Orchestra perform at the State Schools South Eastern Region Opera House Concert
Concert Band played at the State Schools South Eastern Region Opera House Concert
Wind Ensemble played at the State Schools Choral Festival Opera House Concert.
One Fortian nominated and .selected for the HSC Encore Concert and CD recording
I.M.P Tour of North Eastern Tasmania
Symphony Orchestra were gold award winners in the Yamaha Instrumental Festival and selected for command performance.
Jazz Ensemble was invited to perform at the NSW Director General of Edcuation’s Farewell Function, Sydney Conservatorium of Music
Stage Band were silver award winners in the McDonalds Eisteddfod Open Stage Band Section

Three Year 12 students, were nominated and one selected to perform at the HSC Encore Concert. One Fortian include on Encore CD recording

Senior Strings invited to play at function for Hong Kong /Australian Business Awards Council
Senior Strings play at State Schools South Eastern Region Concert.
Wind Ensemble selected to perform at the State Schools Choral Festival held at the Opera House concert
Wind Ensemble play at State Schools South Eastern Region Concert and also selected as accompanists of the combined schools choral items
Fortians selected for inclusion in the NSW Arts Unit's instrumental and vocal ensembles

The NSW Secondary Schools Chess Teams Competitions: Our Junior A team was a Junior Division Winner
  The Team consisted of:  
  Year 7  1 student 
  Year 8  4 students

They also reached in semi finals of the Met East Regional Knock Out round for divisional winners.

The Intermediate team missed being champions by half a point, and were invited into the KO round, but lost in the quarter finals   The team consisted of:
